Basic principles of SEO

Ease of use

The first basic principle for SEO is ease of use. Ease of use means that your website is easy to navigate and uses features that ensure visitors have an enjoyable time on it. This involves looking at things like the click-through rate (CTR), which indicates how many people who see this site actually go to the web page, compared to people who search via search engines. The pages viewed are also taken into account for the 'rating', because some users may only browse rather than view the entire page.

Relevance of the content

The second principle is the relevance of the content. When creating your content, use keywords that have been carefully researched and chosen so that Google will be able to find them (think of keyword impressions). If you use a word too much or without reason, it can cause a problem with how well the page ranks. This may be because there is no need for such repetition. Users can simply look up the information directly from their search bar, instead of clicking around on pages full of text. This would also significantly slow down the loading time of the website (and therefore make it less user-friendly)! Therefore, write the text in a natural way, using understandable language and in the right length.

Backlinks

Once you have done this, it is important to start working on backlinks. Backlinks are referrals from other websites to your website and are also very important for your SEO. However, it is important that you use the right anchor text and check whether the website in question is relevant to you. If your website is about garden furniture, a backlink from a page about computers is not very relevant.

Technical SEO

Finally, the last basic principle: technical SEO. Technical SEO is an important factor in the overall success of your site. Technical issues such as page loading speed and whether or not it is "mobile-friendly" can have a huge impact on how quickly people find what they are looking for on the website. And so it also contributes to the first factor: ease of use.

Using SEA to strengthen SEO

By making good use of SEA and SEO, you can ensure that your website is found more quickly. With SEA, you create (paid) advertisements via Google Ads. These advertisements are displayed at the top of the search page when certain keywords are entered. Short tail keywords are mainly used for these keywords. SEO is all about optimizing your website for a higher ranking in Google. Long-tail search terms are mainly used for this. To strengthen SEO with SEA, it is wise to carefully coordinate the strategies of both.

In summary, the basic principles of SEO are important to ensure that your company's website is displayed as high as possible on the search page. This is partly determined by ease of use, content relevance, backlinks, and technical SEO. In addition, the use of SEA can strengthen SEO, so it is wise to coordinate the strategies well.
